William "Pete" R. Dexter, Sr., 79, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at his home.

He was born on December 24, 1936 in Madisonville to the late Marjorie Woods Dexter and Paul Dexter. Pete was a United States Army Veteran and was a self-employed truck driver and also worked at South Hopkins Coal Company, West Hopkins Coal Company and Sextet Coal Company. He enjoyed gardening and loved his dog Maggie. Pete was a member of First United Methodist Church in Madisonville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lonnie Nelson Dexter and Paul Romnall Dexter; and his sister, Carmazell Dexter.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Judy Dexter; daughters, Sabrine Mitchell, Yvette Ramsey, Sherry Todd and husband, Jimmy all of Madisonville and Becky Henry and husband, Robert of Hanson, KY; sons, William R. Dexter, Jr. and wife, Stephanie of Anton, KY, Chris Dexter and wife, Kristal of Madisonville, Kevin Dexter and wife, Emily of Hanson and Darren Webster of Greenville, KY; sister, Violet Carolyn Dexter of Madisonville; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Pastor Dale Carden officiating. Burial to follow at Hicklin Cemetery in Anton.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Monday at the funeral home.

The pallbearers are the sons and grandsons.
