William Carpenter, 66, of Dixon, KY passed away at 9:18 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, In.

He was born on December 29, 1947 in Dayton, OH to the late Dorothy and Arnold Carpenter. He was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran and was formerly employed with the United States Postal Service. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda McKechnie Carpenter; and his brother, Richard Carpenter.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Carolyn Carpenter; his sons, William Christopher (Karen) Carpenter of Gilbertsville, KY and William Fredrick Carpenter of Dixon; Laurie (David) Oakley of Madisonville; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Keith Harris officiating. Burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. Military honors will be conducted graveside by the Hopkins County Honor Guard and 101st Airborne Division Ft. Campbell, Ky.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chris Carpenter, David Oakley, Jeff Oakley and Steve Oakley.
