Wesley "Wes" Griffin Heffington III, 76, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.

He was born on February 22, 1945, in Evansville IN, to the late Linnie Edna Mays Heffington and Wesley "Junior" Heffington. Wes was a proud United States Navy veteran. He worked in the coal mines, the propane gas business, and was a deputy at the Union County jail in Morganfield, KY. Wes's greatest and most loved accomplishment, besides the love for his family, was serving his Lord and Savior. He was an active member of Sturgis Baptist and Grangertown Baptist where he served as a Deacon and currently at Liberty Baptist Church in Madisonville. Wes also enjoyed coaching youth football (third and fourth graders) where he spent thirteen years sharing his love for the game. Watching the UK Wildcats was also another favorite pasttime of his.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Leroy Heffington of Florida.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-three years, Judy Barnes Heffington of Madisonville; his sons, Wesley (Brooke) Heffington, IV of Cumming, GA and Mark Heffington of Australia; his grandchildren: two grandsons and two granddaughters; three sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Liberty Baptist Church 76 Liberty Church Loop in Madisonville with Bro. Tondra Daugherty officiating. Burial to follow at Hanson Cemetery in Hanson, KY with military honors to be conducted by the Hopkins County Honor Guard. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Saturday at the church.

Pallbearers are Joe Rose, Jerod Rose, Jon Rose, Issac Jackson, Heath Puckett, and Steve Hallum.
