Virginia Caroline Strom Dorris, 88, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Baptist Health Madisonville.

She was born on January 23, 1930 in Springfield, MA to the late Ruth and Frederick Strom. Virginia enjoyed reading and loved her church and her Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church where she was a loving member since 1979. She was formerly employed at the Hopkinsville Board of Education.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dorris; and her brother, Wallace Strom.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Joe) McCoy of Hanson, KY and Judy Igleheart of Madisonville; granddaughters, Michelle (Shane) Coughlin of Chattanooga, TN and Kerri Blades of Madisonville; grandsons, Josh (LeeAnn) McCoy of Portland, TN and Matt Henderson of Madisonville; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Pastor Dale Carden officiating and Pastor John Kalz assisting. Burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

The visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Joe McCoy, Josh McCoy, Matt Henderson, Drew Blades, Shane Coughlin and Seth Bean.

Memorial contributions may be made lovingly in Virginia's memory to the First United Methodist Church in Madisonville.
