Virginia L. Petitt, 72, of Manitou, Ky. passed away at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009, at her daughters home in Manitou, Ky.

She was born on September 3, 1937 in Hopkins County, Ky. to her mother Blanch Lucille Ipock DeMoss and her late father George Morse. She was a caretaker and was a member of Grapevine Baptist Church in Madisonville, Ky.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her late husband, Basil Petitt; two sons, Greg Gordon and Russell E. Gordon.

She is survived by her present husband, Billy Petitt of Nortonville; a mother, Blanch Lucille Ipock DeMoss of Madisonville; seven sons, George Petitt of Hanson, Joe Gordon, Gary Gordon, Darrell Gordon, Floyd Gordon, Ervin "Pee Wee" Gordon Jr. all of Madisonville, and J.C. Gordon of FL.; three daughters, Linda Gail Bruce, Vicki Duncan both of Manitou and Missy Jarvis of Madisonville; one brother, James Morse of St. Charles; six sisters, Shirley DeMoss of Nebo, Mary Gunn of Nortonville, Georgia Underwood, Darlene Cotton both of Madisonville, Rhonda Hamby of St. Charles and Martha Cotton of Madisonville; twenty-four grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday October 27, 2009 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville, Ky. with Rev. Frank Cotton officiating and Cecil Warrick assisting. Burial will be in Concord Church Cemetery in Manitou, Ky. Pallbearers will be George Petitt, Joe Gordon, Gary Gordon, Darrell Gordon, Marty Underwood and Ricky Morse.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home.
