Tommy D. Tichenor, Jr., 79, of Nortonville, KY, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest in Owensboro, KY.

He was born on August 27, 1946, in Nashville, TN, to the late Ruth B. Beeny Tichenor and Alton D. Tichenor, Sr. He was a supervisor for the State of Kentucky in the Equipment Department and worked for Brewco Racing. He loved racing gocarts where he became a TriState Champion and then started racing cars and trucks. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Tommy was a member of Pritchett Chapel.

His survivors include his sister, Pat Emmons of Owensboro; half-sister, Mary Ann (Buddy) Brooks of Hanson, KY; niece, Erica Emmons Wade of Owensboro; and his nephew, Craig Emmons of Mooresville, IN.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Terry officiating. Burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Wayne Burns, Keith Harris, Curtis Parker, Terrell Cartwright, Jerry Niswonger, and Chesley Wilson.
