Shirlie Ann Storey Mitchell, 80, of Madisonville, KY, formerly of Louisville, KY, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Ridgewood Terrace Health and Rehab in Madisonville.

She was born on January 24, 1946, in Madisonville, to the late Beulah Moore Storey and Thomas "Tom" Storey. She retired from Humana as a claims specialist. She enjoyed canning, traveling, and flower gardening. She enjoyed eating at the South Main Café and considered the staff as her dear friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Keith Mitchell; sister, Hilda Adamson Carpenter; and her uncles, George Albert Moore and Robert Moore.

Her survivors include her nieces, Brenda Kay Parson of Scottsburg, IN and Karen Hampton of Louisville, KY; nephew, James (Anita) Mitchell of Louisville; cousins, Cindy Steele and Scott (Lori) Moore, both of Madisonville, and George Moore II of Maysville, KY; caregivers, Joan Puffer, Lillian Trexler, and Teri Babb; and special neighbor and friend, Calvin Bearden.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Pastor Eddie Fleming officiating. Burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday at the funeral home.
