Shirley Jeanette Bourland
MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Shirley Jeanette Bourland, 78, of Madisonville died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at NHC Healthcare.

She was born Aug. 30, 1930, in Evansville, Ind. to the late John Douglas Blue and Dorothy Turpin McKannon. She formerly was a doctor's assistant at Trover Clinic. She was a member of Pond River Missionary Baptist Church in Anton and American Legion Post 6 Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Thomas Bourland, in December 1990; two brothers; and a sister.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Charles Stewart of Nebo, Ky., Jeanette and David Cotton of Madisonville, Teresa and John Lowry of Brandon, Miss.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Barbara Bourland of Madisonville, Ronnie and Barbara Bourland of Madisonville; two sisters, Sharon Taylor of Henderson and Becky Cuellar of Evansville; three brothers, John "Buddy" Blue of Henderson, Jerry McKannon of Francisco, Ind., and Larry McKannon of Francisco; sister-in-law, Violet Sellers of Hanson; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, in the chapel at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Rev. J.D. Holt officiating. Burial will be in Zion Brick Cemetery in Slaughters. Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from
9 a.m. until service time Saturday at Harris Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
