Shelby Dayle Mitchell, 64, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at his home.

He was born on September 17, 1959, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Wilma Loretta Franklin Mitchell and James Walter Mitchell. He was formerly employed as a monument setter with Knight & Sons Monument Company. He loved deer hunting and watching NASCAR. Shelby was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Monroe and Noel Wayne Mitchell.

Survivors include his wife of forty-one years, Ida Hutchings Mitchell; sons, Lee Mitchell and Jonathan Mitchell; brothers, William (Teresia) Mitchell Sr. of Bremen, KY, Austin Mitchell of Central City, KY, Steve Mitchell of Beach Creek, KY, and David (Jessie) Mitchell of Madisonville; and his grandchildren, Zachary Mitchell and Mallorie Mitchell.

A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Silent Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Nebo, KY, with Chaplain Adam Bridgeman officiating. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers are Shane Hutchings, Rocky Mitchell, Jonathan Mitchell, Jody Morris, William Mitchell, Jr, Justin Mitchell, and Jacob Mitchell. Honorary pallbearer is Zachary Mitchell.
