Sharon Sue Johnston Mitchell, 83, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Tristar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

She was born on July 26, 1940, in Earlington, KY, to the late Aretta Dunning Johnston and Hershel Johnston. She loved bird watching and traveling. Sharon was of the Pentecostal faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Mitchell; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her daughters, Pamela (Matthew) Cummings of Hopkinsville, KY and Wendy (Israel) Gomez of Madisonville, KY; son, Lynn (Kelly) Gates of Madisonville; grandchildren, Oliva (Joseph) Ivy, Arica Cummings, and Gabriel Cummings; and great-grandchildren, Asher and Grayson Ivy.

A private graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Madisonville. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers are Matthew Cummings, Israel Gomez, Gabriel Cummings, Aric Cummings, and Lynn Gates.
