Curtis Sandra "Sandy" Word Wix, 79, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh, IN.

She was born on April 7, 1943, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Edith Earle Wingo Cates and Curtis Word. She was self-employed as a daycare owner. She enjoyed decorating her home, collecting various things, and going to church. Sandy was a member of Island Ford Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Wix; and brother, Joe Hawkins.

Survivors include her son, Jeff Wix of Mt. Vernon, IL; sisters, Janice Wix of Mortons Gap, KY and Patti Ruby of Madisonville; granddaughters, Kelsy Wix and Katy Martin, both of Mt. Vernon, IL; great-grandson, Kody Martin; great-granddaughter, Jolene Kindel; niece, Belinda Wix of Mortons Gap; nephews, David Wix and Danny Wix, both of Mortons Gap; and dear friend, Ruth Back of Madisonville.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2023, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Farrell Shepherd officiating. Burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Earlington, KY.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour on Monday at the funeral home.
