Ruby Estelle Kirkwood, 85, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 9:15 p.m. at her home in Madisonville.

She was born on February 5, 1929 in Camden, TN to the late Lillie Brackins Pierce and Willie Porter Pierce. She retired as an operator with South Central Bell. Ruby was a member of Silent Run Missionary Baptist Church in Nebo, Ky.

In additon to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Kirkwood and  her sister, Alma Jean Riddle.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Richard) Bittle of Madisonville and Donna Gail McCay of Nortonville, KY; her sons, Don (Barbara) Kirkwood of Evansville, IN and Johnny Dewayne (Becky) Plunkett of Dawson Springs, KY; her granddaughters, Katharine Olivia Bittle and Laura Hensler; her grandsons, Jacob Glenn McCay and John Plunkett; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Rev. Mickey Bellis officiating. Burial will follow at Silent Run Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Nebo.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Plunkett, Donnie Kirkwood, Richard Bittle, Richard Sorrells and Bill Herbert.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ruby's memory to Christian Assembly Church Missions for Honduras. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
