Ruby Nell Blue Simpson, 98, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017 at NHC Healthcare of Madisonville.

She was born on April 28, 1919 in Slaughters, KY to the late Lizzie and Marvin Ashby Blue. Ruby was a clerk at Smith and Reynolds Company for thirty-years. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and was active in church, her community and the Senior Citizens Center of Hopkins County.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Mark Simpson; sons, Freddy Simpson and Marvin Simpson; sister, Anna Laura Myrick; and her brother, William Owen Blue.

Survivors include her daughter, Janis Winstead and husband, Charles of Madisonville; brother, Richard "Dick" Blue of Hanson, KY; sister-in-law, Betty Sue Blue of Hanson; grandsons, Mark Simpson Winstead and wife, Janet of Hanson, Keith Allen Simpson of Bowling Green, KY and Michael J. Simpson of Earlington, KY; four great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Pastor Dale Carden officiating. Burial to follow at Slaughters Cemetery in Slaughters, KY.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Mark Winstead, Keith Simpson, Michael J. Simpson, Ryan Winstead, Dylan Blue and John M. Simpson.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ruby's memory to the First Untied Methodist Church Youth Group in Madisonville.
