Richard E. Martz, 73, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 8 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at his home.

He was born on March 30, 1940 in Reed City, MI to the late Edwin and Adela Martz. He was a United States Navy Veteran and later retired as a superintendent with El Paso Gas Company. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #738, VFW Post 5480, and the American Legion Post 6. He was of the Lutheran faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Gill Martz.

He is survived by his sons, Paul (Vicky) Martz and Mike (Karla) Martz both of Madisonville; his step daughters, Terry (Don) Bunch of Cadiz, KY and Jennifer Conger of Manassas, VA; his step sons , Jack Gill of Valparaiso, FL and Jeff Gill of Nortonville, KY; his sister, Kathleen Gondick of Reed City, MI; his brothers, James (JoAnn) Martz, Thomas (Christine) Martz and Bruce (Karen) Martz all of Reed City; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be private in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville with Rev. Don Bunch officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville.

Pallbearers will be Edwin Martz, Daniel Martz, Matt Martz, Andrew Buckner, Andy Gill, Keith Kittinger and Jack Gill.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopkins County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
