Rev. Raymond E. Davis, 91, of Richland died Thursday, August 13, 2009, at Caldwell County Hospital in Princeton, KY.

He was born November 25, 1917, in Muhlenberg County., to the late Muncie Davis and Minnie Laffoon Davis. He was a minister for 57 years, and a member of Richland Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army in WWII. He was also a retired coal miner from Pyro Coal Company.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Alton, Ruby and Marvin Davis; a sister Louise Gaston; two Grandchildren Cynthia and Jamie Hatler.

He is survived by his wife of sixty eight and a half years, Lucille Gunther Davis of Richland, KY. Three daughters Lois Hatler of Richland, KY., Clemma Dever of Dalton, KY. and Glenda Whitaker of Richland, KY.; One sister Nevelene Brown; Six Grandchildren Preston Dever, Laura Latham, Carla Carpenetti, Carl Hatler, Vonda Harris and Karen Adams; Fourteen Great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday August 16, 2009, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Rev. Jim Lantrip officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville, Ky. Pallbearers will be Preston Dever, Laura Latham, Carl Hatler, Carla Carpentti, Vonda Harris and Karen Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Hal Latham, Norris Adams, Harvey Harris and George Dever. Military rites will be conducted graveside by the 101st Airborne Division of Ft. Campbell, KY. and Hopkins County Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday and from noon till service time Sunday at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville.
