Peggy Jean Pittman Downing, 85, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at her home.

She was born on February 26, 1941, in Hollywood, AL, to the late Maybelle Dodson Pittman and John Pittman. She enjoyed doing needlepoint, coloring, reading, and loved her plants. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and her family. Peggy was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Fowler; an infant grandson; and her siblings, John Pittman, Jr., Annie Hardin, Wesley Pittman, and Deborah Pittman.

She is survived by her husband, Nenad Downing; daughters, Clara (Ira Rose) and Sybil Corcoran; sons, Stephen Fowler, Matthew (Yieng) Fowler, Joseph Fowler, Jeffrey Fowler, and Samuel Downing; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A private burial will be held at Hanson Cemetery in Hanson, KY, with Bro. Lawrence Richardson officiating. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
