Owen C. Greer, 81, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 12:52 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 at his residence.

He was born on September 2, 1932 in Fordsville, KY to the late Hattie and Zack Greer. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and later retired as a mechanic specialist with Texas Gas. He was a member of the American Legion Post 6. Owen in his spare time loved spending time with his family, hunting and boating.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Robin Greer; and his sister, Martha Howard.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Betty Sue Greer; his son, Stephen Wayne (Christy)Greer of Owensboro, KY; his sister, Mary Hayes of Munster, IN; his grandsons, Chad (Felicia) Greer of Hanson, KY and Zach (Chrissie) Greer of Louisville, KY; his granddaughter, Hannah Greer of Lexington, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of Owen's life from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday March 11, 2014 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville, followed by a private graveside service at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Military honors will be conducted graveside by the 101st Airborne Division Ft. Campbell, KY and the Hopkins County Honor Guard.
