Nora Jane Stewart, 74, of Manitou, KY, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh, IN.

She was born on March 1, 1949, to the late Lizzie Hook Carter and Henry Carter, Jr. She was formerly employed by RMC Madisonville. She was most recently employed as a school crossing guard with the Madisonville Police Department. She was a member of CPU (Citizens Police Unit). She was an officer of the Daughters of the Nile. She loved trains, animals, gardening, and working with kids. Nora was a member of Unity in Christ Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Vonnie Cato.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-five years, John Stewart of Manitou; sons, John (Pam) Stewart, Jr. of Louisville, KY and Jerry (Tamrah) Stewart of Madisonville, KY; daughter, Cindy Stewart of Manitou; sisters, Linda (Ronnie) Parker and Dorthy (Luther) Witten, both of Madisonville; grandsons, Josh Stewart and Jared Stewart; granddaughter, Jenna Stewart; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff French officiating and Pastor Brian Richardson assisting. Burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Hanson, KY.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be the Madisonville Police Department.
