Monty Ray Carter, 75, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at his home.

He was born on November 6, 1950, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Helen Meadows Carter and Jewell Woodrow Carter. He was an owner/operator truck driver and worked for Landstar. He was an avid UK Basketball fan and enjoyed watching cowboy shows. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Monty was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jewel Wayne Carter.

His survivors include his wife, Sharon Smith Carter of Madisonville; stepdaughters, Jacqulyn Herrington of Madisonville and Robin (Kevin) Cosby of Sevierville, TN; grandchildren, Jeremy Springfield, Brandy Alexander, Jacob Flowers, Logan Cosby, Devin Cosby, and London Cosby; and several great-grandchildren.

A private burial will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville, KY. Harris Funeral Home is in-charge of the arrangements.
