Monica Kay Mitchell, 58, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at her home.

She was born on May 2, 1965 in Chicago, IL to the late Dora Nell Willis Mitchell and William Richard Mitchell. She was a graduate from Western Kentucky University. Monica was formerly a teacher at Ringgold Elementary School in Clarksville, TN and was an active member of the Elks Club in Madisonville. She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, shopping and spending time with her friends. Monica was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include her daughter, Tandi Vandiver of Madisonville; son, Russell Vandiver of Madisonville; sisters, Angela (Dana) Classen of Madisonville and Pam (Dewey) Hutchinson of Providence, KY; brothers, William (Debbie) Mitchell of Sturgis, KY and Richard Dale Mitchell of Providence; several nieces and nephews; her beloved granddogs, Diamond, Chunky and Manny and her beloved grandcat, Ava.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Hanson Cemetery in Hanson, KY with the Elks Club and Bro. Bobby Lott officiating. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville is in charge of the arrangements.
