Mildred Whitsell Brewer Curtis, 92, of Blacksburg, VA passed away at 3:50 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Warn Hearth Village in Blacksburg.

She was born on August 4, 1919 in Clay, KY to the late Mattie Mae McGary Whitsell. She was a homemaker and had attended First Baptist Church in Madisonville. She was a member of Blacksburg First Baptist Church.

In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her first husband, Luther Conrad Brewer; her second husband, Frank Mann Curtis; her step-son, Edward Elenathan Curtis and her sister, Mary Nell Whitsell Oates.

She is survived by her two sons, Conrad Allen (Rhonda L.) Brewer of Blacksburg, VA and Timothy David Brewer of Lakewood, CO; her step-son, Charles Lewis (J.J.) Curtis of Houston, TX; two granddaughters, Allison M. Brewer and Brittany E. Brewer both of Blacksburg; four step-grandchildren, Charles Mann Curtis, Brian Patrick Curtis, Susie Curtis and Frank Mann Curtis; and one niece and one nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Dr. Joe Leonard officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour Saturday at Harris Funeral Home.
