Michaleen Balka Basham, 77, of Dawson Springs, KY formerly of Chardon, OH, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.

She was born on July 15, 1948, in Hammond, IN, to the late Stephanie Gurnak Balka and William Barney Balka. She was formerly employed as a therapist for Logansport State Hospital. She enjoyed making stain glass and reading. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Michaleen was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Basham.

She is survived by her daughters, Catherine (Steven) Colgan of Ohio and Rebecca (Carl Self) Basham of Michigan; son, Mathew (Sonja) Basham of Ohio; and her sister, Jonette (William) Boggs of Dawson Springs.

A memorial service will be held at Burr Funeral Home and Cremation in Chardon, OH, date and time to be determined. Burial will be held in Chardon, OH. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville was entrusted with care.
