Mary Ruby Holmes, 84, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 11:33 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Brighton Cornerstone Healthcare of Madisonville.

She was born on September 20, 1928 in Madisonville, KY to the late Bennie B. Cunningham and Welby Dexter Cunningham. She was a devoted homemaker and mother to her children. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Earl Holmes; her son, Harold Holmes and her sister, Bonnie Poole.

She is survived by nine sons, Larence Holmes of Onton, KY, Bennie Holmes of Madisonville, Darrell Holmes of Dalton, KY, Paul Holmes of Madisonville, Clinton Holmes of Rumsey, KY, Nelson Holmes of Dawson Springs, KY, Wesley Holmes of Dalton, Troy Holmes and Tracy Holmes both of Dawson Springs; three daughters, Mildred Cunningham of Nashville, TN, Peggy Holmes of Dawson Springs and Rosemary Starks of Rabbit Ridge, KY; her brother, Owen Cunningham of Madisonville; her sister, Marvene Slaton of Madisonville; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Mark Schreiber officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery in Hanson, KY.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour Thursday at Harris Funeral Home.
