Mary Lou Downey, 100, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at NHC Healthcare of Madisonville.

She was born on July 24, 1916 in Madisonville, KY to the late Gilbert and Winnie May Groves. Mary Lou was a clerk at Beverly's Shop.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Owsley Downey; son, Gary Lewis; grandson, Gary Wayne Cope; daughter, Gay McDonald; two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include her granddaughters, Karen Singh of Madisonville and Sharon Denise McDonald of Owensboro, KY; great-granddaughters, Crystal McDonald of Bowling Green, KY, Melissa McDonald of Cadiz, KY, Abby McDonald of Hopkinsville, KY, Tabatha Houle and Taylor Houle both of Cadiz; great-grandson, Jeremiah Ayala of Cadiz; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2016 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Chaplain Pat Dew officiating. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour Sunday at the funeral home.
