Larry Delano "Hoppy" Knowles, 68, of Madisonville, Ky. passed away at 6:50 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2011 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

He was born on April 6, 1943 in Madisonville, Ky. to Robert Knowles and the late Mary Elizabeth Knowles. He was a coal miner for Magic Coal and was a member of Independent Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Patti Knowles; his father, Robert Knowles of White Plains, Ky.; two sons, Mickey (Tracey) Knowles of Diamond, Ky. and Rickey (Charlotte) Knowles of Mortons Gap, Ky.; a daughter, Crystal (Larry) Halida of Bowling Green, Ky.; two step-sons, Phil (Sandy) Cruce and Tony Cruce all of Madisonville; a step-daughter, Becky (Bill) Hagan of Madisonville; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter loved as a daughter, Brooke Hibbs.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday September 19, 2011 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Danny Lutz officiating and Terry Bowman assisting. Burial will be in Hanson Cemetery in Hanson, Ky. Pallbearers will be the grandsons; Hank Knowles, Derek Knowles, Austin Knowles, Eric Cruce, Brandon Johnson and Austin Cruce.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Monday at Harris Funeral Home.
