Larry Gaynor, 69, of Island, KY passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Baptist Health Madisonville.

He was born on July 1, 1947 in Cannelton, IN to the late Melvina Bolin Gaynor and Archie Gaynor. Larry was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran and was formerly a coal miner at Island Creek Coal Company and was a member of Masonic Central lodge#673 in Central City, KY. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Bremen since 1971 where he was an active member and a deacon. He loved his church and his family. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, fishing and playing golf.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Benita Gaynor; daughters, Michelle Miller and husband, Billy of Crofton, KY and Vanessa Gibson and husband, Rodney of Madisonville; son, Jason Gaynor and wife, Ileana of Island, KY; brothers, Ron Gaynor, Steve Gaynor, and Mike Gaynor; grandchildren, Dustin Miller, Leanna Wilson, Dillon Miller, Isaac Wimberly, Ruby Wimberly, Amberla Miller, Javier Gaynor, Julianna Gaynor and David Miller; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church 13560 State Route 70 W. Bremen, KY with Bro. Conard Barnes officiating. Burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted graveside by the Hopkins County Honor Guard. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday with a Masonic rites service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Thursday at the church.

Pallbearers are Dustin Miller, Isaac Wimberly, Javier Gaynor, Matthew Ervin, Tyler Ezell and Jason Gaynor.
