Katie Virginia Phelps, 66, of Madisonville, KY. passed away at 1:10 a.m. on Monday October 25, 2010 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

She was born on November 15, 1943 in Hopkins County, KY. to the late James Monroe Phelps and Charlene Gamblin Phelps. She was a homemaker. In her spare time she loved doing jigsaw puzzles, quilting and playing the guitar. She was a member of Serenity Temple Church in St. Charles, KY.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth "Pete" Duncan, Rena Mae "Tiny" Moore and Eva Allen and a brother, Bill Phelps.

She is survived by two daughters, Tina (Rev. Terry Jones) Jones of Dixon, KY. and Lisa (Bill) Herbert of Madisonville; a sister, Rita Matheney of White Plains, KY.; two brothers, Donald Phelps of Mannington, KY. and James Phelps of Cannelton, IN.; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday October 28, 2010 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Ronald LaFond and Rev. Willard Walls officiating. Burial will be in Shaw-Gamblin Cemetery in St. Charles, KY.

Pallbearers will be Rev. Terry Jones, Bill Herbert, Nicholas Jarvis, Kyle Menser, Jim Edwards and Ben Stark.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until service time Thursday at Harris Funeral Home.
