Judith "Judy" Karen Melton, 78, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Madisonville Health and Rehabilitation in Madisonville, KY.

She was born on December 17, 1942, in Manitou, KY, to the late Hazel Ferguson Buchanan and Morton Buchanan. Judy was formerly the owner/operator of Silhouette Salon and was also a secretary for Dr. Cole's office. She loved her make-up and reading her bible. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Judy was a member of Christian Assembly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Melton; her brother, Johnny Minton; and her sister, Sue Ann Huggins.

Survivors include her son, Michael (Sarah) Melton of Nebo, KY; her daughter, Marilyn (Keith) Niswonger of St. Louis, MO; sister, Jane Harkins of Madisonville; her granddaughters, Chloee, Zoee, Oakley, and Sarah; her grandsons, Kevin (Ravyn) and Obadiah; her great-great-grandson, Easton; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Ellis officiating. Burial to follow at Oakley Home Cemetery near Manitou, KY.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the funeral hour Sunday at the funeral home.

The pallbearers are Rollie Matheny, Kaleb Matheny, Caleb Crabtree, Kyle Compton, Merle Compton and Freddie Perdue.
