Joyce Cates, 58, of Madisonville, Ky. passed away at 2:50 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011 at her home surrounded by her friends and family.

She was born on October 11, 1953 in Kokomo, In. to the late Betty Joyce Schoultz and Leslie House. She was formerly a CNA at the Eddie Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, Ky. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Central City, Ky.

She is survived by her husband, Dwayne Cates; her daughter, JoLynn Phillips of Madisonville; a step-son, Aaron Cates of Onton, Ky.; a brother, Kenny House of Kokomo, In.; two granddaughters, Abbey Phillips and Hanna Cates; a grandson, Hunter Cates; and a niece and a nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Sam Beeny officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour on Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home.
