John Jacob Mitchell, 62, of Madisonville, KY formerly of Bloomingdale, OH passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Baptist Health Madisonville.

He was born on March 28, 1958 in Steubenville, OH to the late William Mitchell and Edith Dobbins Mitchell. John had a passion for collecting antiques, old coins and paper money. He enjoyed watching his granddaughter, Alison play outdoors and ride her bicycle. John also enjoyed fishing in the summer months with his family.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Darrell Mitchell and Willis Mitchell; and his sisters, Emogene Dobbins and Kathy Smith.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-four years, Sheila Morris Mitchell; son, Robert (Savanah) Mitchell of Madisonville; granddaughter, Alison Mitchell of Madisonville; sister, Shannon Wicker of North Carolina; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Archie and June Morris of Cadiz, OH; brother-in-law, Johnny (Kim) Morris of Chester, WV; sister-in-law, Debbie Burns of Wintersville, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Madisonville Church of Christ 1035 N. Main St. Madisonville, KY 42431 with Russell Kline officiating. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville was entrusted with care.
