Joan Cates Scott, 88, of Diamond, KY passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.

She was born on December 5, 1935, in Nebo, KY to the late Margaret Dorris Cates and Sherman Cates. Joan enjoyed flower gardening and treasured her cats. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Scott; her daughter, Lori Martin; two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan (Richard) Mitchell and Patty Scott both of Madisonville; sons, Alan (Vicki) Scott of Newburgh, IN and Robert T. Scott of Providence, KY; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Reverend Garry Dock officiating. Burial to follow at Browder Church Cemetery in  Madisonville.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday at the funeral home.

The pallbearers are Bruce Mitchell, Philip Mitchell, Tanner Griffin, Tyler Scott, Joe Harbour, Matthew Martin and Derek Martin.
