United States Navy WWII Veteran, Jimmie Leo Coon, 92, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Baptist Health Madisonville.

He was born on September 18, 1927 in Anthon, IA to the late Florence Riggs Coon and Albert Coon. Jimmie enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He was formerly a carpenter with ISI and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Coon; one brother; and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Dora Jones Coon; son, Brad (Terri) Coon of Dawson Springs, KY; daughter, Sherri Chesley of Madisonville; grandsons, Matt, Cody, Michael and Clint; great-grandson, Teddy; and daughter-in-law, Tammy Coon.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Madisonville with Pastor Eddie Fleming officiating. Military honors will be conducted graveside by the Hopkins County Honor Guard. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville is in charge of the arrangements.
