Jewell Lynn Gates, 65, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021.

He was born on June 2, 1956 in Greenville, KY to the late Mable "Halene" Gary Gates and Chester Gates. He was formerly employed with Kentucky Carbide. Jewell enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing and playing the guitar.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tiffany Gates; and J.C. Gates, Edna Wells, Hattie Baldwin, Jen Hardin, James Gates, Lindle Gates, Doris Keasel, infants, Mary Evalene Gates and Betty Lene Gates.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Collins Gates of Russellville, KY; daughters, Tara Strange of Madisonville, KY and Autumn (Bill) Salsman of Dawson Springs; sons, Greg (Kim) Gates and C.J. (Dixie) Gates both of Madisonville; brothers and sisters, Murel Bivins of Slaughters, KY, Jean Rickard of Hanson, Anna Petrakavitz of Jeffersonville, IN, Eula Smith of Madisonville, Janice Pate of Ashland City, TN, Gary Gates of Madisonville, Mary Turpin of Hanson, Darrell Gates of Madisonville and Tim Gates of La Grange, KY; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021 in the chapel of Harris Funeral home in Madisonville with Bro. Tim Rigdon officiating. Burial to follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Hanson, KY.

A visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Monday at the funeral home.

The pallbearers are James Bivins, David Turpin, Ronnie Hartford, Dustin Hartford, C.J. Gates, Gary Gates, Bill Salsman and Chris Taylor.
