Jessie Arnold Edwards, 101, of Madisonville, KY passed on Friday, April 7, 2017 at NHC Healthcare of Madisonville.

She was born on August 31, 1915 in Madisonville to the late Laura and Everett Arnold. Jessie was a former principal at Pride Avenue Elementary School in Madisonville and taught in the school system from the age of 16 to the age of 55 and she and her husband were the former owners of Edwards IGA in Madisonville. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Madisonville since 1944. Jessie enjoyed quilting, golfing and fishing.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Hayden Edwards, Sr. and brothers, Thomas C. Arnold and Jimmy E. Arnold.

Survivors include her sons, Tom Edwards and wife, Donna of Madisonville and Hayden Edwards, Jr. and wife, Hilda "Mickie" of Hanson, KY; granddaughters, Tena Render of Madisonville, Kelly Hayward of Slaughters, KY and Susan Kaufman of MCDonough, GA; grandson, T.J. Edwards and wife, April of Madisonville; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Jim McMurtrie officiating and Bob Florida assisting. Burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Cody Allen, Calynn Suttle, Christian Suttle, Gabe Edwards, Jake Kaufman and Ty Kaufman.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jessie's memory to First Baptist Church in Madisonville.
