Jerry Wayne Clayton, 74, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Baptist Health Madisonville.

He was born on October 20, 1949, in Manitou, KY, to the late Betty Jane Vincent Clayton and Buford Douglas Clayton. He was formerly employed as a coal miner for Island Creek Coal Company and was operator of Clayton Properties, Inc. He was a proud Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. Jerry was a member of Parkview Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Clayton; and his brother, Billy Douglas Clayton.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Carolyn Sisk Clayton; son, Joey (Alison) Clayton of Madisonville; brother, Danny (Betty) Clayton of Madisonville; sister, Donna (Danny) Brown of Manitou; grandchildren, Marlie Clayton, Max Clayton, and Katherine Weir; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor J.W. Durst officiating. Burial to follow at Concord Cemetery in Manitou, KY.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday and from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are David Griffey, Jeff Griffey, David Weir, Caden Crowell, Dean Pownell, and Scott Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Allen, Clint Duke, and Tim Griffey.
