Jerry Coleman Clayton, 74, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at his home.

He was born on October 9, 1949, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Minnie Rae Taylor Clayton and Coleman Clayton. He was a proud United States Army Vietnam veteran. Jerry retired as a Major from the Madisonville Fire Department after thirty-six years. He was a member of the VFW. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-four years, Nancy Duvall Clayton; daughter, Amy Clayton Lawson; and brother-in-law, Edward Allen Wilson, Sr.

Survivors include his daughter, Alyssa (Matt) Browning of Madisonville; sister, Dorothy Clayton Wilson of Madisonville; grandsons, Clayton (Hannah) Lawson of Hawaii, Preston Browning and Ethan Browning, both of Madisonville; granddaughter, Macey Browning of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Matt Browning officiating. Burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. Military Honors will be conducted graveside by the United States Army.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Preston Browning, Ethan Browning, Clayton Lawson, Jacob Duvall, Steven Hancock, and Jeff Scott.
