Kington
Dec 15, 1931 — Feb 9, 2021
Madisonville
Jane Allen Judge Kington, 89, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 in Madisonville, KY. Born and raised in Nicholas County, KY, she was predeceased by her parents, Hanson & Sophie Judge, her only sister, Martha Sims of Flemingsburg, KY, and her husband of 62 years, O.M. "Buddy" Kington, Jr. She graduated in 1952 from Christian College in Columbia, MO. She also attended the University of Kentucky where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. While attending UK, Jane met Buddy Kington of Madisonville. Jane and Buddy enjoyed traveling the world together and lived for several years in Naples, FL before returning home to Madisonville.
Jane learned the values of hard work and steadiness from her upbringing on the farm during the Great Depression. She was the mother of five children who all cherish her memory. Dr. James (Cindy) Kington of Hanson, KY, John Kington of Milford, OH, Sarah (Steve) Patterson of Madisonville, Mary Jane (Terry) Popham of Edgewood, KY, and Charles (Katherine) Kington of Madisonville. She enjoyed gardening and we all enjoyed the vegetables and wonderful casseroles throughout the years. She actively engaged in her children's lives through her sewing talents and being involved in their various scouting and school activities.
Jane was a servant of the Lord with active participation as a teacher and willing volunteer through memberships in the Disciples of Christ (First Christian Church) and First Baptist Church in Madisonville as well as her other homes. Mom served her community as President of the Madisonville Women's Club and the Stephen Ashby Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also volunteered for many years for the Senior Citizens Center through the "Meals on Wheels" program. She loved to bake, play games, and visit with her eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her kind disposition, generosity, and quick wit. Our family extends heartfelt gratitude for her many caregivers during these past years.
There will be a private funeral service held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Pastor Kara Foster officiating. A private burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.
A public visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations in her honor can be made to her home church, Moorefield Christian Church, 229 Upper Lick Rd, Moorefield, KY 40350 or to the church or charity of your choice.
