Obituary

James Earl "Jimmy" Shelton, 70, of Crofton, KY, passed away in the morning of Wednesday, November 30, 2022, in his hometown of Madisonville Ky at Baptist Health Deaconess.

Jimmy was born on June 19, 1952, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Mildred Whitmer Bruce and Richard Earl "Eight-Ball" Bruce. Jimmy had battled serious health conditions over the past few years but refused to allow that to interfere with gardening, canning, or his granddaughter's softball season. Jimmy loved lending a helping hand to friends or sharing knowledge he had learned as a master electrician. Since the age of six years old, he worked with his father Richard Bruce doing electrical work and wired his first home alone at just ten years old. Jimmy was licensed as a master electrician when he was just fifteen years old. He worked many years with MD Downey and considered him more of a brother than an employer. More than anything he loved his family and friends. Bringing sweet treats for his grandchildren and often his daughter in law as well, this brought him great joy. Jimmy loved who he loved, he had no words like "step grandkids" or "in-laws". Family to him were the people you chose to love, and he loved them BIG.

Survivors include his son, Johnathon Earl (Jessica) Shelton, seven grandchildren, Daniel & Denise Evitts, Dillan Evitts, Olivia Payne, Dylan Shelton, Ava Jo Shelton, and Millie Kate Shelton; one great grandson, Dalton Evitts whom he adored.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the House of Hope Church of God, 18684 Madisonville Road, Nortonville, KY 42442. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville was entrusted with care.
