James Edward Jones, 85, of Nebo, KY passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Baptist Health Madisonville.

He was born on September 1, 1930 in Manitou, KY to the late Minnie and Noah Jones. James was a United States Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Korean War and was formerly a self employed construction worker. He was a member and trustee of Oakley Home General Baptist Church in Manitou and was also a member of the Wolf Hollow Gang. James enjoyed spending time with his church family, watching UK Basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed politics.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Brunette Lutz, Ruth Ada Harris and Nancy Poole; and a brother, Walter "Red" Jones.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Dean Jones; daughter, Linda Taylor and husband, Charlie of Nebo; son, Terry Jones and wife, Kim of Manitou; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Gary Turner officiating and Bro. Terry Yancy assisting. Burial to follow in Oakley Home Cemetery in Manitou.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Chris Taylor, Jeremy Taylor, Tyler Jones, Andrew McGregor, Ray Tapp and Mike Melton. Honorary pallbearers are James McFarland, Terry Wilson and Carroll Peyton.
