James R. Howard, 76, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026, at his home.

He was born on June 25, 1950, in Greenville, KY, to Sue Carol Weightman Howard and the late Jimmie L. Howard. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, hunting, and was an avid UK fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. James was a member of Island Baptist Church in Island, KY.

His survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Pamela Ashby Howard of Madisonville; mother, Sue Carol Weightman Howard of Calhoun; son, Rodney L. (Katie) Howard of Calhoun; daughters, Kimberly R. (Troy) West of Florida and Eva Christy (Nathan) Hart of Madisonville; brother, Michael Kerry (Vicky) Howard of Island; grandchildren, Tyler (Gracie), Canaan (Faith), Jasmine (Brian), Caleb (Peyton), Kadi-Beth (Carson), Turner (Dede), and Eva and Harper Howard; and great- grandchildren, Griffin Burden and one-on-the-way, Gentry Belle Burden.

No services will be held. Harris Funeral Home was entrusted with care.
