James S. Herald, 76, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Heartford House in Owensboro, KY.

He was born on May 23, 1941 in Madisonville to the late, Iley Mae Timmons Herald and William Baker Herald. James retired as a police officer from the City of Madisonville and was the warehouse manager at Food Giant. He was a member of Earlington General Baptist Church and he enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife who passed away in 2003, Nancy Gail Browder Herald; sisters, Lobeta Herald Kayton, Janet Gale Wright and Betty Jean Herald; and great-grandson, Braedyn Barnes.

Survivors include his son, James G. Herald of Madisonville; daughters, Sidonia R. Herald Barnes and husband, Ricky of Madisonville and Gina Michelle Myers and husband, Tracy of Kuttawa, KY; brothers, William Larry Herald and wife, Belva of Ft. Walton, FL and Stewart Randall Herald of Madisonville; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Tommy Hayes officiating. A private burial will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

The visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in James' memory to the Hopkins County Relay For Life or the Heartford House in Owensboro. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
