James O. Cates, 72, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at NHC Healthcare of Madisonville.

He was born on September 24, 1945 in Madisonville to the late, Ruth and Harry Cates. James was a United States Army Veteran and was formerly employed for thirty-four years at Hoosier Stamping Manufacturing Corporation.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin Cates and Finis Cates; and his sisters, Helen Hartline and Margaret Cates.

Survivors include his brothers, Thomas Cates and wife, Connie of Henderson, KY and Harold Cates and wife, Linda of Nebo, KY; sisters, Barbara Lamb of Nebo and Anna Mae Boze of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Rick Oakley officiating. Burial to follow at Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville. Military Honors will be conducted graveside by the Hopkins County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Tuesday at the funeral home.
