James Charles Barr, 92, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Hillside Center in Madisonville.

He was born on May 10, 1929 in Detroit, MI to the late Corlee Branson Barr and Elmer Barr. James retired as a journeyman mechanic from General Motor Company. He was a Kentucky Colonel and was a member of Hanson United Methodist Church in Hanson, KY. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and hunting.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marjorie Uber and Doris Jones; and his nephews, Keith Jones and Kirk Jones.

Survivors include his wife of forty-three years, Erlinda Z. Barr; daughter, Carolyn (John) Hilden of Marquette, MI; grandson, David James (Lucia) Hilden of Texas; great-grandchildren, Iria Hilden and Paloma Hilden; and his niece, Linda Kollien.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Pastor Tami Coleman officiating. Burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Hanson.

A visitation will be held from Noon until the funeral hour Wednesday at the funeral home. Due to concerns of the lingering effects of COVID, the family kindly request wearing a mask during the visitation and the funeral.

The pallbearers are David Hilden, Ben Turner, Dwight Major, Johnny Speight, David Ashby and Jim Herrenbruck.
