Jack
Holt
Apr 7, 1931 — Nov 19, 2020
Madisonville
Jack Holt, 89, left his earthly body and graduated to a new life on November 19th, 2020 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Evansville, IN, where he had been taken after suffering a major stroke the previous day. He was born on April 7, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, KY in the beautiful hills of Renfro Valley, the only son of Curfew and Gertrude Holt.
He originally pursued a degree in agriculture at Eastern Kentucky University, but then when the Lord called him into the ministry, he finished his education at Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, TN. After graduating from there he was called to be the pastor of the Grapevine Christian Church, here in Madisonville. Not only did he quickly become dear to that congregation, but there he also found the love and companion of his life, Julia (Judy) Stinnett. They recently celebrated sixty-five years of life and service together
Besides his wife Judy, Jack is also survived by his daughters, Rebecca (Lindy) Knight and Brenda (Scott) Laskowski, both of Madisonville; grandchildren: Lynsey (Chris) Laskowski-Sholar, Ben (Korie) Laskowski, Leah (Andrew) Deardorff, Julie (Aaron) Baxter, Sam (Rebekah) Laskowski, Moses Knight, Anna Knight, Joseph Knight, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Brother Jack, as he was lovingly known, served as pastor for thirty-five years among the Grapevine community, wearing many hats as teacher, shepherd, counselor, chauffeur, handy-man and friend. Then for another twenty years he was the pastor to the Grapevine senior citizens, known as the Merry Hearts. In the midst of the many activities required of a faithful minister, he did not neglect his own family, Judy, and their daughters Becky and Brenda. That care extended to his nieces and nephews, and later to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jack's eighty-nine years were a testimony to the grace of God in his life. His true calling was to bring others to know Jesus as their personal Savior and Friend.
Judy has asked that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to The Lamb's School of Life, c/o Lindy Knight, 245 Wilbur James Rd., Manitou, KY 42436.
A private graveside service will be held on Monday, November 23,2020 at Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville with the family giving his eulogy. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville is in charge of the arrangements. Due to COVID-19, as set forth by the Governor of the State of Kentucky, all funerals are to be held privately. The family appreciates your understanding
