Hilda Cunningham Kirkwood, 97, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.

She was born on February 1, 1925, in Nebo, KY, to the late Annie Prince Cunningham and Mich Cunningham. She was known for her delicious pies and loved to go walking. Hilda was a member of Praise Temple in Madisonville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Kirkwood; sons, Doyle Kirkwood and Mark Kirkwood; and sister, Helen Phelps.

Survivors include her son, Danny (Sue) Kirkwood of Madisonville; daughter, Lana (Jerry) Kirkwood of Madisonville; grandchildren, Kim Nelson, Dana Adkins, Daniel Kirkwood, Michael Kirkwood, Lee England, Darin Phillips, Jena Phillips, Jessica Sellers, and Tony Kirkwood; several great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.

A funeral service will be at 12 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Cook officiating. Burial to follow at Rose Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Thursday at the funeral home.
