Herbert J. "Herb" Cox, 76, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at his home.

He was born on June 5, 1942 in Madisonville to Lona Frances Kirkwood and the late Herbert Lee Cox. Herb retired from General Electric and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a gunsmith and loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his step-father, Ruby Earl Kirkwood; step-mother, Frances Riggs Cox; and his brothers, Jerry Riggs and Ricky Cox.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Betty Fisher Cox; his mother, Lona Frances Kirkwood of Madisonville; daughters, April Lynne Cox of Eddyville, KY, Luana Frances (Bill) Moulton of West Jordan, UT, Sarah Danielle (Jason) Miller of Burlington, NC and Eve Catherine (Dwayne) Cardiff of Kingman, AZ; son, John Fisher (Christy) Cox of Glen Burnie, MD; sisters, Missy Gentry of Madisonville and Darlene (Larry) Finley of Whitesville, KY; brother, Donnie Cox of Lewisport, KY; sixteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Madisonville with Bishop Brian Hadlock officiating. Burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville with Jimmie Bourland officiating.

The visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at Harris Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Friday at the church.

The pallbearers are Jon Gunn, Kevin Rogers, Alan Butler, Danny Jones, Daniel Prince, Marvin Phillips, Shaun Cox and Samuel Miller. Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Taylor, Curtis Frederick, Craig Rolley and Andy Ausenbaugh.
