Helen Messamore, 91, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Ridgewood Terrace Health and Rehabilitation Center in Madisonville.

She was born on April 20, 1922 in Coiltown, KY to the late Willie Lee Hancock and Evelyn Franklin Hancock. She was a devoted homemaker and loving mother and grandmother to her family. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Madisonville.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen E. Messamore; her sons, Larry Messamore and Carmen D. Messamore; her daughter, Brenda Peyton; and her brother, William Edward Hancock.

She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Trputec of Madisonville; her grandchildren, Joni Hayes of Nebo, KY, Alexis Messamore of Henderson, KY, Marshall Messamore of Nashville, TN, Kim Daugherty of Memphis, TN, Ronnie Hensley of Owensboro, KY, Clay Hensley of Palatine, IL and Jeff Peyton of Madisonville, KY; fourteen great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and her nephew, Alan Hancock.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Rev. Kerry Smith officiating and great-grandsons, Tucker Messamore and Marcus Hayes assisting. Burial to follow in Rosecreek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home.
