Gertrude Oglesby, 88, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at her home.

She was born on January 22, 1928 in Madisonville to the late Bessie and Acre Kirkwood. Gertrude was an avid UK Basketball fan and was of the Pentecostal faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Oglesby, Sr.; her son, James C. Oglesby, Jr.; several brothers and sisters; and her granddaughter, Joy Elyn Bane.

Survivors include her son, Larry Oglesby and wife, Melinda of Madisonville; daughter, Cecilia Bane of Madisonville; sister, Juanita Goodwin of Madisonville; grandsons, Jason Hibbs, Paul Dewayne Bruce, Gordan W. Bane III, Jesse Oglesby; granddaughter, Lindsay Livingston; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Pastor Dale Carden officiating. Burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gertrude's memory to the Sanctuary Renovation Fund at First United Methodist Church in Madisonville.
