George Howton, 83, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Transcendent Healthcare South in Boonville, IN.

He was born on July 23, 1932 in Manitou, KY to the late Gladys and Baxter Howton. George was formerly a teacher at School of Industrial Electricity and was a member of Masonic Lodge #609 in Beulah, KY.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry and Johnny Howton; and his sister, Elizabeth Howton Prince.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Fay Nell Howton; daughter, Debbie Groves and husband, Kenny of Dawson Springs, KY; son, Bradley Howton and wife, Cindy of Morganfield, KY; sister, Nora Lou Ratliff of Madisonville; granddaughter, Haley Groves Winston and husband, Art of Orlando, FL; and a great-grandson, Fletcher Winston.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2016 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Wayne Lamb officiating. Burial to follow at Beulah Cemetery in Beulah.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Monday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made in George's memory to Kosair Children's Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
