Gary Cowen, 73, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Baptist Health Deaconess.

He was born in Clay, KY, on August 20, 1948, to the late Edna Shields Cowen and Cecil Cowen. Gary was a United States Marine Corp Veteran. He was formerly a truck driver and he enjoyed fishing and joking with others. Gary was a member of Souls Harbor Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Conrad O'Reilly; and his brother, Ernie Cowen.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-eight years, Nancy Sutton Cowen of Madisonville; his sons, Eddie Cowen, Chris Lisanby both of Madisonville, and Stephen (Edie) Hancock of Henderson, KY; his daughter, Lacretia (Donald) Shelton of Terre Haute, IN; brother, George Cowen of Cadiz, KY; sister, Rose Stewart of Frankfort, KY; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Souls Harbor Church in Madisonville with Pastor Bill Crabtree officiating. Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville was entrusted with care.
